Hired into the Seattle Fire Department January 1997-Forced to retire April 2022

I spent 25yrs serving the citizens of Seattle. Most of that time was as a driver. I felt very honored and took great pride in ensuring I knew my district, apparatus, and profession. I loved serving the community. Unfortunately, my ability to serve was taken away from me when the city of Seattle enforced the Covid 19 vaccine mandate.

I struggled with this decision. The mandate went against my religious and personal beliefs. The efficacy of the vaccine was not proven and there were many unanswered questions about it. I chose not to fulfill the mandate causing me to retire well before I had intended to.
