Davy Dahlin
Davy was born and raised in Western Washington, and never let go of his dream to be a firefighter. He attended Bellevue Christian School, graduated from Lake Washington High in Kirkland, and earned his BS from WWU in 1996. On January 12, 2000 he began his first day with the Seattle Fire Department. He made his way to Ladder Company 5 in the spring of 2003. In 2014, he married Becky, and they became an instant family, with two sons, Gunnar and Gabe. In 2017 he became the driver for his crew, and in 2018 was a finalist for the Firefighter of the Year. In 2021 he was the senior-most driver for all of Ladder Company 5. During his off time from the SFD, he volunteered with the M.S. Society, and spoke regularly with his mom (who had Multiple Sclerosis) to collegiate nursing students about providing good patient care. He also helped instruct self-defense classes for the general public.
When the covid shot mandate was announced, Davy filed for a religious exemption based on how the shots were manufactured. His exemption was approved, yet he was still fired on Nov 22, 2021.
Davy was raised in the building trades, and when the mandate was placed into effect, he and his wife believed their best option to make ends meet, would be in returning to that industry. They began at first in WA, and realized that the pollical and social climate there was heading in a direction contrary to their family values. When they made the difficult decision to uproot, and move their family, they chose the area around Boise, ID. Opening a service business in a new community with no ties, has proven more challenging than anticipated, but throughout it all, their faith is strong, their marriage is healthy, and their sons are thriving.
Davy is a Christian, husband, father and friend. He enjoys many outdoor activities and cooking for friends and family. He and his wife now live in Caldwell, Idaho, and operate a small remodel company.
