Andrew Stewart got his dream job in 2013, working for the Seattle Fire Department. He quickly earned a spot at the second busiest engine, E17 in the U-district, shortly after probation. Wanting to further hone his skills after 4 years as a firefighter, he got accepted into the world-famous Medic One program. After 4 years in Battalion 3 as a firefighter paramedic, his pursuit of promotion was cut short in 2021 by an unjust mandate that was against his deeply held beliefs. His potentially very long career was cut to just over 9 years with SFD. During this time, his family was dramatically affected. His wife was fired from Seattle Children’s for the same reasons. He and his wife, along with the support of their two bio kids, have been active foster parents of medically fragile kids since 2017 and at that time had a foster baby in their home. Days before the mandate went into effect, the Stewart’s took in two additional foster kids, with the intention of adopting all three, because it was a deep desire of theirs and a direct calling from God. During that time, the emotional toll of losing all income and the fear of their pre-adopted kids being removed from their home was overwhelming for the whole family. Thankfully, God’s grace and mercy was much greater than the illegal injustice committed, and all three kids were able to stay in their home and are now adopted. Please stand with us to try and prevent this from happening again!
